Catalan craftsmanship goes to the next level

Master classes: promoting and sharing craftsmanship on both sides of the border

As part of the CAT cross-border craft cooperation project, supported by the European POCTEFA program, an ambitious Master Class program will be launched in 2026. This initiative aims to strengthen the skills of Catalan artisans on both sides of the border and to highlight the excellence of the crafts.

A program designed for artisans who want to go further

In 2026, professionals will have the opportunity to participate free of charge in training sessions led by recognized experts in their field. Each Master Class is designed to be a true technical immersion experience, allowing artisans to:

  • to develop new skills
  • to perfect their professional skills
  • to be open to artisanal innovations present in both Northern Catalonia and Southern Catalonia
  • to share the expertise that enriches the cross-border region.

Targeted training courses, closely aligned with real-world needs

The Master Classes cover a wide range of sectors to reflect the dynamism of Catalan craftsmanship:

  • Food-related professions: pastry chef, baker, chef, etc.
  • Mechanics and maintenance
  • Hair & beauty
  • Air conditioning and technical equipment
  • Handicrafts and arts and crafts
  • And many more workshops in the works...

Each session is designed in direct collaboration with professional organizations, trainers from the consular network, and the artisans themselves to ensure that the content is relevant, up-to-date, and immediately applicable in the workplace.

Cross-border momentum promoting excellence in craftsmanship

Beyond training, these Master Classes help to create a space for Catalan artisans to meet, exchange ideas, and recognize each other's work. They promote:

  • sharing best practices
  • discovering technical innovations on the other side
  • building lasting professional collaborations.

This initiative complements the first focus of the project, which is dedicated to rolling out the “ECO-CAT+” eco-label to promote committed, responsible, and exemplary craftsmanship.

Program for the first semester of 2026

The launch of these Master Classes marks a new stage in cross-border craft cooperation. By strengthening the skills and visibility of artisans, the CAT project contributes to promoting modern Catalan craftsmanship that is demanding and proud of its common identity.
